Dance Club

The dancing talent in small towns in South Africa is impressive

Dance brings people together, relieves stress and encourages exercise. We responded to the energy of dance by supporting dance classes in Pearston. The classes are run at The Pearston Club and include hip-hop, spiritual and traditional dance.

There’s no question that Pearston’s got talent! We are proud to have hosted a few of the annual Pearston’s Got Talent events. The town comes together through dancing and singing performances, sports events, street markets and potjiekos competitions.

To build on the energy and dancing in Pearston, we told Tim Ellis from Face Africa about our talented groups. He organized a dance group from Chera’s Dance Factory, based in the UK, to visit Pearston! A memorable and fun week commenced, filled with adventures, mutual learning, culture exchange and sharing of stories as well as lots of dancing! The week was topped off with a joint performance in the Pearston Town Hall.

The spiritual dance group is run by Chantel Reens, and we support them to attend their annual dance conferences which are held nationally, each time in a different city or town. Pearston has also been proud to host a spiritual dancing conference, organised by Chantal’s group.

The other dance group at the club is called the Royalty Steppers, facilitated by Mishca Witbooi and Tyra (She-Henrica) Baartman, who enjoy hip hop.
